Award for Mensa Scheffelberg for vegan cuisine

For the seventh time, PETA Deutschland e. V. surveyed various canteens and cafeterias of Germany's student unions on various aspects of vegan nutrition. The Mensa Scheffelberg in Zwickau was awarded three stars and may thus carry the title "vegan-friendly canteen 2023".

The canteens were evaluated on the daily offer at vegan meals as well as the training of the personnel regarding the preparation of the vegan meals and the offer of vegan drinks and events on the topic "vegan cuisine". The development of the canteen and the offer over the years was also included in the evaluation system.

We are very pleased that our Mensa Scheffelberg in Zwickau, which participated in the ranking, was rated with 3 stars and is thus one of the vegan-friendly canteen in Germany. Vegan dishes are part of the menu in all our canteens and have been integrated more and more for years and are also very well accepted by the students. In the Mensa Scheffelberg, there is at least one vegan dish to choose from every day. In addition, there is the possibility to serve oneself individually at a varied cold-hot buffet. As a not purely vegan or purely vegan-vegetarian canteen - these could receive up to 5 stars - we are therefore very proud to have been awarded the highest possible number of stars for us. Our goal is to continue to reflect diversity, sustainability and health in the best possible way in our offerings and to constantly develop further.
