Chemnitzer Wohnheim bekommt Schmetterlingswiese

Das Studentenwerk Chemnitz-Zwickau beteiligt sich am Projekt „Puppenstuben gesucht – Blühende Wiesen für Sachsens Schmetterlinge“ der Initiative „Sachsen blüht“ der Sächsischen Landesstiftung Natur und Umwelt (LaNU) und widmet ein Wiesenstück von 1000 m² am Wohnheim Vettersstraße 70 in Chemnitz den Insekten. Die Verteilung des zertifi­zierten Saatgutes übernahmen dabei die Kinder unserer Kita Campulino.

Kurzer Rasen und wenig blütenreiche Wiesen sind schön anzusehen. Was für das Auge hübsch ist, ist für die Tiere jedoch katastrophal. Häufiges und komplettes Mähen entzieht vielen Insekten von jetzt auf gleich ihren Lebensraum. Diese fehlen dann wiederum Vögeln und Amphibien als Nahrung. Da auch im Studentenwerk Chemnitz-Zwickau der Nachhaltigkeits- und Umweltgedanke groß geschrieben wird, beteiligen wir uns am Projekt „Puppenstuben gesucht – Blühende Wiesen für Sachsens Schmetterlinge“ und widmen unser Wiesenstück vor dem Wohnheim Vettersstraße 70 als Schmetterlingswiese um.

Nach einer sorgfältigen Vorbereitung des Bodens durch eine Fachfirma, haben heute die Kinder unserer Kita Campulino die Aussaat für die zukünftige Schmetterlings­wiese übernommen. Mit großer Freude verteilten die Kleinen die Samen aus gebietseigenem zertifizierten Saatgut, welches kostenlos durch die Sächsi­sche Landesstiftung Natur und Umwelt zur Verfügung gestellt wurde. „Nun heißt es erst einmal geduldig zu sein. Die Kinder können den Erfolg ihrer Aktion hoffentlich im nächsten Frühjahr sehen, wenn es dann zahlreich auf dem Wiesenstück summt und brummt.“, sagt Kita-Leiterin Katja Weinhold voller Vorfreude. Zukünftig wird dieses Wie­senstück nur maximal zweimal im Jahr in Teilflächen besonders schonend für die Tiere gemäht. Die Teilflächenmaat ermöglicht ihnen einen Rückzugsort. Weiterhin wird, wie auch schon bisher, auf Dünge- und Pflanzenschutzmittel verzichtet. Auf unsere Schmetterlingswiese weist zukünftig ein Schild hin, welches der Information dient und auch zur Akzeptanz bei den Anwohnern beitragen soll.

Short lawns and meadows with few flowers are beautiful to look at. What is pretty to the eye is catastrophic for the animals. Frequent and complete mowing deprives many insects of their habitat at once. These are then again missing birds and amphibians as food. Since the Studentenwerk Chemnitz-Zwickau also attaches great importance to the idea of sustainability and environmental protection, we are participating in the project "Doll's houses wanted - blooming meadows for Saxony's butterflies" and are rededicating our meadow in front of the dormitory at Vettersstraße 70 as a butterfly meadow.

After a careful preparation of the ground by a specialized company, the children of our kindergarten Campulino took over the sowing for the future butterfly meadow today. With great joy the children distributed the seeds from local certified seeds, which were provided free of charge by the Saxonian Landesstiftung Natur und Umwelt. "First of all it is necessary to be patient. The children can hopefully see the success of their action next spring, when the meadow is humming and buzzing in large numbers," said Katja Weinhold, the head of the day care center, full of anticipation. In the future, this piece of meadow will only be mowed twice a year at the most in partial areas, which will be particularly gentle on the animals. The partial mowing will provide them with a place of retreat. Furthermore, fertilizers and pesticides will be dispensed with, as in the past. In the future, a sign will point to our butterfly meadow, which will serve as information and will also contribute to the acceptance of the residents.
