Opening of the cafeteria Reichenhainer Straße

After about a year of construction and pandemic-related delays, the cafeteria Reichenhainer Straße will open under a new name on April 25, 2022. Look forward to expanded, cozy and bright seating areas and new outdoor seating areas in combination with an insect-friendly flowering meadow. From now on, the cafeteria will also be accessible via a second entrance from Reichenhainer Straße.

At the reopening on April 25, 2022, the winning name from last year's naming contest will be announced and the prizes offered, including the grand prize of one month of free food, will be awarded. During the opening week, in addition to the new, trendy and varied offer, you can also look forward to opening specials under different country themes, such as "Fiesta Mexicana" or "The New Good Old Germany". In addition to freshly prepared pizza and burger variations, the popular salad bar, rolls, wraps and sandwiches, there are also completely new offers. In the future, you'll find trendy "pinsa", a wheat-gluten-free pizza variation made from spelt, rice and chickpea flour, in a variety of flavors. In addition, there is a large ice cream counter with constantly changing varieties of natural scoop ice cream, which is freshly prepared in the region. The final event of the opening week will be the "Springtime Brunch" on Friday. From now on, the cafeteria will again be open to all guests as a meeting place on campus from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Fridays with a modern all-day menu.

Would you like to try a selection of the future cafeteria offerings in advance? Then you are cordially invited to the pre-opening week from April 11 to 14. From Monday to Wednesday, you will find individual dishes of the different offer areas from 11:00 to 13:30 each day. On Thursday, April 14, 2022, the "Happy Easter Brunch" with a breakfast selection, snacks and delicious dishes from the barbecue counter awaits all hungry people from 9:30 to 12:00.

The second construction phase is currently planned for 2024. At that time, the seating area will be expanded to include a portion of the current copy store space.

The costs of 2.1 million euros for the conversion and renovation measures are being borne entirely by the state of Saxony.
